An All-New Concept Car: The Kia GT

It was speculated that the Kia GT features a powerful V8 engine under its hood however, Kia revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show that the concept car is powered by a 3.3L T-GDI turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine, which delivers 395 horsepower and 535 Nm of torque. Mated to the V6 unit is the all-new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Speaking of the design, Gregory Guillaume, Kia's European Design Chief said the GT concept was inspired by the spirit of iconic 1970s GT cars: sumptuous and elegant vehicles capable of whisking passengers from Paris to the South of France in effortless style and at high speed. We wanted to create something similarly graceful, athletic and confident, but not aggressive or overbearing.

As you can see... It turned out alright.

Peter Schreyer announced the Kia GT in person, giving his listeners a walk through of the bold lines and styling of the Kia GT. He went on to show a promotional film afterwards, which you can watch below:

Any description possible through words simply just doesn't do the Kia GT justice, as such below you may look for yourself at the shadow of the future of Kia design.
Yes, that is rear carbon fiber. Yes, those are rear facing cameras instead of mirrors. Yes, this car has been made; and yes, it is gorgeous.
Even the interior demands attention; but so does the exterior, and frankly there's a lot more of that you don't want to miss out on.

The bold body lines perfectly exemplify the reason behind naming it the GT. The days of rock and roll, fast cars and cheap gas suddenly come burst to life as the one gazes upon the Kia GT.

And there it is again, the nostalgia of the Grand Touring cars of the good days transformed into a futuristic machine of beauty and power... Its wonderful.

But the cars of old were always missing something, apart from gas consumption and the rugged suspension the interior could have used some work. And the GT had brought that thought into the new age.
An interior fitted with the latest technology, futuristic styling, and a whole new cluster. Yes, when creating the GT Kia ensured no detail, no matter how small was a replaced the latest of this century.
Describe in one word? Gorgeous? Simple? Elegant? Futuristic? Take your pick.
Maybe I would pick flawless?
In any case one thing is certain, the Kia GT is the shadow of the future. And if that's the case, what a bright future it is indeed.
