  Overview
The 2012 Kia Rio 4-door reinterprets the smooth, chiseled lines of the upscale Kia Optima sedan to create a one-of-a-kind look that builds off the award-winning design esthetic of Peter Schreyer, Kia's internationally celebrated Chief Design Officer. It expresses motion and emotion that sets it apart from every other car in its class.

The Rio 4-door EX Luxury model features robustly styled, 17" alloy wheels with a sporty, performance-inspired look.






The Rio 4-door has a sweeping, coupe-like roofline - an appearance of movement and forward motion even when the car is standing still.





Luxury cars are known for their power-folding mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. This hallmark of luxury is now a standard feature on Rio 4-door EX models.




Distinctive, LED taillights are standard on the Rio 4-door EX Luxury, bringing a new benchmark of sophistication to the sub-compact class.




  Interior
The comforts and conveniences you expect in larger cars have made their way to the top of the standard features list on the 2012 Kia Rio 4-door. You'll find things like power windows, door locks and side mirrors; a center floor console with armrest; illuminated vanity mirrors; and SIRIUS® satellite radio1 are standard on every Rio 4-door model. They're all complemented by a level of interior fit and finish that reflects genuine quality.

Kia's Smart Key system lets you unlock the vehicle and start the engine without having to search your pockets or purse for a key. It's standard on Rio 4-door EX Luxury models.

UVO - short for "your voice" - is Kia's remarkable audio infotainment system. Available on Rio 4-door EX models, UVO gives you hands-free, voice-activated control of your music sources and cell phone.1 Its voice recognition software "learns" your voice and stores up to two individual voice profiles. It also includes a digital jukebox with an in-dash hard drive to store your favourite songs.

Heated front seats help take the chill out of winter driving. They're standard on Rio 4-door EX models and available on the Rio 4-door LX.




The Rio 4-door provides ample trunk space and a standard 60:40 split rear seat that folds down to accommodate larger cargo.





   Performance
The 2012 Kia Rio 4-door features a perfectly balanced suspension system and quick-ratio electric power steering for great ride quality and responsive handling. Power is there whenever you need it with a spirited 138-horsepower engine that accelerates without hesitation and cruises effortlessly. It also manages fuel with such precision that it is one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the road.

Rio 4-door features Kia's newest 1.6-litre gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine, combining quick acceleration with smoothness and fuel efficiency.




Rio 4-door comes with a choice of six-speed transmissions - manual or automatic - engineered for silky smooth gear changes and enhanced fuel economy. For a sportier driving experience, the automatic includes a standard Steptronic manual-shift mode.



With the touch of a button, the Active ECO System automatically optimizes the engine and transmission control systems to reduce fuel consumption. It's standard on Rio 4-door models equipped with the 6-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.



Fuel efficiency isn't just about engines and transmissions: aerodynamics play an important role, too. So the Rio 4-door features wind-defying design details - like a front bumper lip that helps reduce aerodynamic drag.




   Safety
The greatest pleasure of all is knowing you're safe in a Rio 4-door with its full array of standard safety features, including six airbags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and a rigid, reinforced body structure for crash protection. In addition, there is an advanced, impact-sensing door lock system that automatically unlocks the doors following a collision, making it easier for first-responders to assist you.

Keeping two hands on the wheel is the safest way to drive. So all Rio 4-doors come with standard, steering wheel-mounted audio controls for safety and convenience.




A rear-facing camera makes parking safer and easier by showing you a wide-angle view of the area behind the Rio 4-door EX with UVO or EX Luxury. It activates automatically whenever you shift into reverse.



Using selective brake, steering and engine interventions, Rio 4-door's standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) help you maintain better control in emergency manoeuvres and slippery driving conditions.



The Rio 4-door EX Luxury model comes with a visibility-enhancing auto defog system that senses condensation buildup on the inside of the windshield and automatically clears it.
