Fun, stylish and practical with just a touch of attitude: that's the all-new 2011 Kia Forte5 hatchback. We've taken all the comforts and conveniences of the Forte sedan and blended in the exciting performance and handling features of the celebrated Forte Koup; added the flexibility of a big rear hatch opening up with loads of cargo space; and wrapped them all up in a captivating, new design. The Forte5: It's life-sized for you.
Forte5 comes with a choice of attractive wheel designs, including these 17" alloy wheels, standard on SX models.
A standard intermittent rear wiper helps keep the large tailgate backlite clear of visibility-robbing rain and snow.
Integrated turn signals in the side mirrors alert adjacent drivers to
your turning or lane-change intentions. They're standard on Forte5 EX
and SX.
Enjoy them both with a power tilt and sliding sunroof. It's standard on Forte5 SX and optional on EX models
The all-new Forte5 has a unique look and attitude. In profile, it picks up the dynamic styling of the Forte Koup and the sophisticated lines of the Forte sedan, all flowing into a distinctive roofline. At the rear, a large, easy-opening hatchback and wraparound tail lights add a sporty flair to this beautifully balanced addition to the Forte family.
Interior
Forte5 is designed to be comfortable and cargo-friendly. Folding the standard 60:40 split rear seats makes room for plenty of gear, luggage, groceries and anything else you may need. With the seats up, there's comfort and room for five adults and available leather seating to add a note of luxury. Plus, Forte5 comes with a long list of standard equipment - including USB and AUX /MP3 audio player inputs , steering wheel-mounted audio controls and hands-free Bluetooth® cell phone capability* - to make your drive more enjoyable.
Forte5 EX and SX models feature a standard tilt and telescopic steering
column providing a perfect feeling of comfort and control for drivers of
all sizes. SX models also include a standard leather-wrapped wheel and
sporty paddle shifters.*
Heated front seats take the chill out of winter driving. They're standard on Forte5 EX and SX.
Standard automatic climate control provides year-round, set-and-forget
comfort on the Forte5 SX. Manual air conditioning is standard on EX and
available on LX models.
Standard USB and AUX audio inputs let you can connect your iPod®
or other digital music player to either of Forte5's impressive
AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio systems, ensuring crystal-clear, interference-free
sound.
Performance
Forte5 is proof that performance and fuel economy can go hand in hand, whether you choose the 2.0-litre, 156-horspower engine on Forte5 LX and EX models or the quick and exuberant 2.4-litre, 173-horsepower engine that powers the Forte5 SX. You also get a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions to suit your driving preference, and a superbly engineered chassis with a perfect balance of ride, comfort and precision handling.
Dynamic handling makes Forte5 a joy to drive. SX models add to the fun
with standard sport-tuned suspension for the enthusiastic driver.
Both available Forte5 engines feature Kia's performance-enhancing, continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) technology.
An available 6-speed Steptronic automatic transmission lets you switch
to manual upshift/downshift mode whenever you feel the urge.
Safety
Forte5 is built to be safe and strong. Its rigid, crash-tested body structure directs the energy of frontal and side impacts away from the passenger compartment while standard front, side-impact and side curtain airbags provide impact protection for you and your passengers.
Forte5's standard safety protection includes dual front and side
airbags, plus full-length side curtain airbags to enhance the safety of
driver- and passenger-side occupants in the event of a side impact or
rollover.
Forte's powerful four-wheel disc brakes are augmented with a standard
anti-locking braking system (ABS) to help you maintain control in
hard-braking situations and on slippery pavement.
The driver and front-passenger seats on all Forte5 models feature
anti-whiplash active headrests that move forward and upward in the first
milliseconds of a crash to help reduce neck injuries.
Electronic stability control (ESC) automatically adjusts brake pressure
at the appropriate wheel or wheels and regulates engine torque to help
keep you on your desired path through tight turns, during evasive
manoeuvres and in slippery road conditions.
